In-class group work can be unpredictable. Fortunately, focusing attention on a few key design elements can greatly increase the chance that your activities will help students develop foundational masteries like collaboration/teamwork, communication, critical thinking, and decision-making. In this online workshop, you will consider these design elements, develop well-structured activities for your course, and collaboratively “workshop” your activity plans with your colleagues–coming away with not only a completed activity of your own, but also design principles to make future activities successful. You should anticipate engaging in workshop activities for approximately two hours per week for three weeks.
Recommended for: Northeastern University educators who lead classroom-based learning experiences.
