Institutional Assessment

Northeastern University is constantly collecting aggregate data to assess curricular and co-curricular programs to continually improve and provide the best possible learning experience for our students.

During the 2018 New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) re-accreditation visit, the “Assessment at Northeastern” plan was shared with the site-team. The goal of the overall plan is to embed assessment into the fabric of the curricular process that already exist at the institution and to empower all members responsible for the success of students with data that can be used to continuously maximize learning environments. The timeline for how Northeastern will achieve this goal has been shared with NECHE.

Curricula at Northeastern is innovative and therefore cannot be assessed using traditional methods. NUpath is being assessed using a multi-methods approach: (1) Modified expert reader model; (2) Learning Evaluation and Response to NUpath (LEARN) survey; and (3) Analysis of aggregated data from SAIL.
